Ideas for your next trekking tour

At BERTRAND, the focus over the next few weeks will be on "trekking", or in other words, long-distance walking. There will be brief posts on our blog that will make you want to enjoy this beautiful sport.

After several weeks full of information about the beautiful trekking sport, today comes the final article in which we want to introduce you to some exciting destinations.

At the very beginning of our blog series, we explained what trekking—in other words, long-distance hiking—is and gave some tips that might be useful for beginners as well as for some professionals. We also explained the advantages of BERTRAND for a trekking tour and why it is ideal for you when planning your next hike.
After that, we had a short travel report about hiking with BERTRAND along a fjord in Norway. And a wonderful guest contribution about the Island of Beauty made us want to visit Corsica Island. In this last article, we want to give you some suggestions, which might broaden your trekking bucket list:

  • Iceland

Iceland – The land of hot springs, volcanoes, and small horses. Kilometers of virgin wilderness, a beach colored black by volcanic ash. Almost every outdoor enthusiast has probably dreamed of exploring this region. The best-known tours are not so long, so even beginners might find the right route. The land of fire and ice is definitely a dream for every trekker!

    Iceland
  • Tanzania

The east African republic of Tanzania offers something for every trekker who doesn't mind hiking in warm weather. Trekkers are rewarded with a breathtaking landscape and abundant wildlife. Tanzania has many national parks and, depending on the region, you can experience everything from deserts to lush tropical flora. A particular highlight is certainly to hike with a view to the Kilimanjaro—Africa's highest mountain—and perhaps even to climb it.

    Tanzania
  • Germany

At first glance, Germany seems rather dull compared to our other two proposals, but this country also has a beautiful natural landscape worth exploring. From the Black Forest to Saxon Switzerland or the large heath fields in northern Germany, there is much to discover, and there is also something for all difficulty levels.

With BERTRAND against the summer heat

Summer is here, and with it comes the heat. For many people, summer heat is just hard to handle and when you're not on vacation lying on the beach but in the office, in school, or at the university, then it's not all that pleasant. To help you get through the summer well and with a cool head, we've got a few tips for you today:

Cooking is never enjoyable in the heat. Instead of doing it, switch to dishes that you don't have to cook. A refreshing salad, a cold tomato soup, your BERTRAND with ice cubes – the possibilities are endless. For example, you can also freeze fruits for breakfast and mix them with (vegetable) milk and BERTRAND for a refreshing shake. "Healthy" ice cream for breakfast, so to speak. Many of these dishes are also not very heavy in the stomach and lighten your load even more in the summer. Generally you should avoid greasy food when you are warm. And most important: always remember to drink enough.
Avoid tight clothing made from synthetic fabrics. Airy, loose clothing made of natural materials is more suitable for high temperatures and you don't sweat as much.
Remember your sunglasses, protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid staying in direct sunlight for too long. If you're outside, look for a shady spot.
Early risers and night owls have clear advantages in the summer because at these times it's coolest in the summer. Try to adapt your training times to the circumstances or choose shady running routes.
People who live on the top floor dread the hot days. Air well in the morning and in the evening and then darken your apartment. It also helps to keep electrical appliances to a minimum because they generate additional heat.
Take advantage of the nice days. Drive to the water, have a nice evening on your balcony, meet up with friends in the park for a picnic and enjoy the sunshine. The warm season is over all too quickly, and despite the heat, it helps most to make the best of it.

Tips for trekking beginners

At BERTRAND, the focus over the next few weeks will be on "trekking", or in other words, long distance walking. There will be short entries on our blog each week, which will whet your appetite for this cool sport.

Today, we have a few tips for you, which will make it easier to start getting involved with trekking as a beginner. And maybe even a few more experienced trekkers will learn something from our tips.

On long tours especially, you will have to be ready for any situation, but at the same time, you also have to carry your own backpack and equipment with you throughout the whole of the tour. This means that if you are on a tour that involves using a tent, you must remember to take lightweight materials. The general rule of thumb is: a quarter of your own body weight, but the lower the weight, the better it is.

With BERTRAND in festival season

In current Social media, you hardly encounter the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, also known as Coachella. Many guests come to California every year to attend the music festival. The festival season has officially kicked off, and over the course of this summer, people around the world will dance and have fun listening to their favorite open-air music for a weekend.

But what are the best things to bring to such a festival? BERTRAND gives you four tips on how to survive on the festival site:

Everything is more fun when you can enjoy it with friends. Find your favorite companions before you set out on your trip, and start the festival together with them. And maybe you'll also meet some new friends.
Both on the campground and in front of the stages, the crowds and the weather can make it very warm. So you do not dehydrate, you should always have some fresh water handy. This cools you down and your circulation stays stable.
Whether a practical, small rain poncho, a warm sweater or waterproof footwear: It is not uncommon that many a festival has been surprised by rain showers. Or the temperatures have fallen sharply at night. Be prepared and pay some attention to the right clothes.
BERTRAND is a good, light alternative to typical canned ravioli. It not only leaves you space in your backpack, but also provides you with the nutrients you need to dance to your favorite tunes. All you need is a bag of BERTRAND per day, your shaker, and fresh drinking water. It also saves you a lot of time, which you can spend much better celebrating.
