Featured: Organic Oats

Oats are considered to be by far the best and healthiest of all common cereals. No surprises there: oats contain low amounts of gluten and are clearly more nutritious than the other types of cereals.

Haferkorn (Avena)

We in BERTRAND exclusively use oats coming from European fields and certified organic agriculture. Oats contain a high amount of carbohydrates, protein, high levels of unsaturated fatty acids, soluble fibers, glucans, vitamin B1, B6 and E, zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

How it gets to our product
The cleaned raw oat is first treated with moisture and then with heat for several hours. This treatment gives it its characteristic nutty aroma, which later becomes the familiar, natural taste of BERTRAND. The heat treatment also weakens the activity of particular enzymes, which would have ultimately caused a rancid, bitter taste. The milling of the prepared oats takes place in our own mill and only shortly before mixing the individual ingredients.
