5 tips for a successful study period

February and March – two inconspicuous months for some, but for most students, it's test and exam season. That means hours in the library, ages spent sitting at your desk, not much sleep and even less time for decent nutrition. Pizza and instant noodles are quick to make, but don't offer the nutrients you need to keep you focused on your notes.
Your brain is doing a lot of work during that time and it needs to be taken care of. So we've collected 5 tips to help you get through the exam period:

5 tips to you survive this time

  • Drink enough!

To maintain your concentration, the main thing to remember is to stay hydrated! You should ideally be drinking two liters of water, tea or diluted juice. If you don't stay hydrated throughout the day you'll often feel weak or be prone to headaches. You're best off putting a big bottle of water within reach of your work station right away each morning. If you often forget to drink, it's helpful to use an app to give you regular reminders.

  • balanced nutrition

Balanced Diet – A balanced diet is important, not just for your physical body, but also for your mind. Good fats and nutrients help your brain process information. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for the exchange of nerve information, which makes it easier for you to learn and remember things. Vitamins A, B and C protect your brain. So instead of reaching into the freezer for a quick meal, grab BERTRAND instead. It has everything your brain needs and it's just as quick to make.

  • Make a plan

Make a plan! Does a study plan sound tedious and boring? That might be the case, but having a plan means you'll get started on time and have a better idea of what you need to get done. And that way you can split things up more easily and see when you have time for other things.

  • Sleep

Sleep – We process the things we've learned much better in our sleep. That's why it's important to get enough of it. You shouldn't make the mistake of staying up studying well into the morning hours every day. Instead, you should give your body a well-earned break and make sure you're sleeping often and enough.

    Sleep
  • Short breaks

And on the topic of breaks: Short breaks are important, even while you're studying. Step away from your desk and go outside and get some fresh air, for example. Get your fill of oxygen and enjoy the first signs of spring. Or enjoy a bath or an episode of your favorite TV show. It's good for the soul. But be careful not to spend too long relaxing or to turn your breaks into excuses. Ideally, use a timer and head back to your desk when it goes off.

Stick to your resolutions with BERTRAND

The first month of the year has already passed by and asking about those New Year’s resolutions feels redundant. Your trainers are already gathering dust again, there’s frozen pizza waiting in the freezer for tonight and, even though you wanted to avoid the stress, you’re already back to working overtime.

It’s not too late however to change that and to shape your life the way you want it. According to statistics, eating healthily, playing more sport and having more time for yourself and friends are also the most common resolutions for 2019. Based on experience, this requires a good plan, but flexibility is also helpful for sticking to resolutions and overcoming inner temptation.

BERTRAND supports every aspect of this process: Its simple preparation alone saves you time that can be used for yourself or friends and family. At the same time, you eat in a considered and above all balanced way. Thanks to the active version containing double the amount of protein, it’s also suitable as a meal after a visit to the gym or an extensive jogging session as it provides the body with the necessary nutrients as well as healthy minerals and vitamins.

From Coast to Coast

Riding on a scooter from coast to coast across the USA? Sounds like a very exhausting adventure. Various climate conditions, thousands of kilometers. But friends Dejan Kovacevic and Patrick Oswald wanted to challenge themselves with this adventure, and even collect money for children with cancer along the way.

What has that got to do with us? Well, Patrick is taking our products with him on the journey, which both men are starting with a rucksack each, and of course their scooters. On February 27th, they set out from Frankfurt with a direct flight to Miami. They are planning to arrive in Los Angeles by March 25th. That's 27 days for approximately 5,000 kilometers. The two men will have to brave the desert, tornadoes and a variety of climate conditions. Which of course raises a number of questions, which Patrick has kindly answered for us:

1. How did you both prepare for this trip? After all, there really couldn't be a more diverse set of requirements than those which apply to this trip.

Patrick: We had a very short time to prepare with our scooters, because we only got them in January. Our main endurance training sessions consist of running.
It is definitely a bit like a Kamikaze trip, for sure.

2. Where did you get this idea to ride from coast to coast?

Patrick: It's spectacular. We did think of other scenarios, for example from the North of Europe to the South. But it's not so cool, and the climate makes it difficult. That's why it turned out to be coast to coast.

3. Why did you choose Bertrand?

Patrick: It's easy to mix Bertrand with water. It lets you have a meal with very little preparation.

If you would like to follow the two men on their trip, take a look at their Facebook page or their Instagram Profile. You can also donate to the Frankfurt Association for Children with Cancer. We wish them all the best for the rest of their trip!

Recipe: BERTRAND Vanilla Date Shake

Sometimes BERTRAND is more than just a shake that contains all of the important nutrients you need. With a little creativity, it can be used as an ingredient as well. Today we have a recipe that can fight your sugar cravings.

Vanilla Flavored Bertrand
Oat milk (cow's milk or other plant milk)
3-5 dates

Put the powder into the Green Bottle, cut the dates into small pieces, blend with the milk in a blender and then pour into the Green Bottle. Shake well and let sit for a minute. Enjoy.

Information about dates:
In spite of their high calorie count, dates provide a lot of important nutrients, including vitamins B and C as well as potassium. They're also full of antioxidants, which serve to protect your cells. That makes the little fruit the perfect substitute for sugar, and is a good way to curb those cravings for gummy bears or chocolate.
